Hello everyone,
I spent the better part of Saturday and a bit Sunday working on new bracket system to install my new seats.
It was very important to me to change out the old ones because they were worn out, looked dated and were unsafe. The wood had rotted, and the screws were falling out!
I ordered the "Tempress High-Back Navistyle Seats" from Cabelas for $99 each. http://www.cabelas.com/products/Ccat21334.jsp (scroll down the page a bit)
More info here: http://www.tempress.com/seating.cfm?Product_ID=25
I chose these seats because they look more like a modern seat than most of the boat seats I had looked at. I would like to have had some sort of racing seat, but I wouldn't have enough room for a passenger then.
When I went to install the new seats, I realized that the mounting holes were not going to match the stock locations. I decided to build my own bracket and got pretty good results. The new seat is comfortable, SOLID, and looks cool!

Steve, please feel free to add any of the information to the registry page. |

It actually was not that difficult. I imagine with the proper tools, and having done it once already I could have it completed from old seat removal to new seat installation in less than 2 hours. |

Great shots!
So from that one image of your legs, I'm getting the feeling that the passenger, unless they are really small, basically "wraps" their legs
around the outsides of the front seat. Now you did say the front seat was moved back as far as it goes. Is this your normal driving position? or is there lots of leg room up front?
Since you've done such a great job with the photos, can you get acouple of friends to sit in both positions, then get some shots with the driver seat in several positions. .....hey, it can't hurt to ask!..... _________________ "Everyday you wake up with a Pulse,

Bob,
There is enough room for the driver...but I think I will have about 1-1-1/2 inches of foam removed out of the seats from the lower and back pad just to give MORE room. I am also getting a flat bottom steering wheel that will give more leg room too. The seat is as far back as it will go, which is where I keep it because I am long legged. I could have built the bracket so that I was sitting even furthur back...which I maybe should have done. I could have just scooted up a bit if there was a passanger.
I put my knees up in the picture from the back seat, and since the new seats are just as narrow as the old, there is room to move your feet forward and straddle the passanger, which I think is what was originally intended in the design.
Ill see what I can do about taking a picture with 2 people. |
