MORE INFO ABOUT REPAIR:

http://www.autocycles.org/faq.html

Bob Hichborn restored Pulse #77. Here is a before and after pic.

Below are a couple of real 'fixer-uppers'. The yellow Pulse sold to Michael Bowes in august of 2007 and the red Pulse has been completely restored. So anything is possible.

HOW MUCH IS IT GOING TO COST TO RESTORE ???

I would say to restore the basics, that you could expect to pay the following depending on whether you perform the repair yourself or not:

FIRST.......Make sure you get a clear title. Some states still give the Pulse owner headaches even if they have a good title. So if all you get with your Pulse is a 'Bill of Sale', you may have real problems attempting to obtain a title. Even an assemblers title.

Frame repairs........$0 to $2,500

Paint job........$1,000 to $4,000

Interior..........$1,000

4 Tires, brakes, shocks, bearings, etc.........$500 - $1,000

Plastic Canopy.........$1,000

Plastic Windshield........$1,000

Engine carb's rebuilt.......$400 to $500

NEED A NEW POWER PLANT ?

Used Honda Goldwing engine........$3,000 to $5,000
(Bascially you have to buy the whole donor bike inorder to use the gauges, tires, engine, transmission, etc. If you are going to replace the air-cooled Yamaha engine, you might as well re-power the Pulse with the water-cooled Gold Wing engine.

I know Pulse owners who have bought a running Pulse and spent $5,000 - $8,000 on restoration.

What is the value of these cars, "AS-IS".........whatever the traffic is willing to bare. I think they would be worth at least $2,000........but who knows. Some have sold for more if they include a good windshield and all fiberglass is intact.

Be sure to inspect the round tube main support frame. If this is rusted through, then plan to replace that frame part and possible other frame parts like the outrigger frames or steering neck. This becomes a major restoration, but it has been done.......ask Jeremy Dawes and his dad, Phil who have replaced all these parts.

Ask questions on this message board. Phil Dawes, Don Willi or Bob Hichborn have completed Full Restorations.

Yellow Pulse #141 above sold for $400 in August of 2007.
